Firefighter Hudson

I'm not sure when it happened but there was a day that Hudson fell in love with fire trucks and firefighters.  It was not just a one week relationship but it has become a lifelong friendship.  Fire truck and firefighters have gotten us through the "terrible twos."  Firefighters helped us potty train, firefighters helped us learn character traits and fire trucks have entertained us on road trips.

For Hudson's special day during spring break we took a trip to the Fort Wayne Firefighter's Museum.  Though Hudson was hoping to see firefighters on our trip he was not completely disappointed.  He saw every kind of fire truck possible.  He saw a horse drawn fire truck, how the hose are washed after a fire, where the fire fighters sleep, how they get from the second story to the first story, and he stood in the stables at old the historic fire station no. 3.  Best of all, Emmy treated him to a new fire truck from the gift shop.

Easter 2016

The world according to Hudson....

I know I am him mom, but this kid is funny!  He keeps us on our toes!  I've spent the winter writing down things he has said just because I don't want to forget them.

Every time he sees a fire truck or passes as fire station he says, "You gotta be kidding!"

After a small incident at Miss Nancy's he informed us, "It's not appropriate to pee on Miss Nancy's pillow or to lick her floor."

While using the bathroom at Emmy's he yells out, "You gotta see this I pooped a 7!"

After getting a snack from the gas station on a trip with Emmy he says, "Emmy why you get me chocolate chip cookies?  I not like chocolate chip cookies.  Why you not know that?"

While opening Christmas gifts he would say, "This is amazing!"  "Unbelievable!"  "Oh, no! What's it gonna be?"

One night at dinner he informs us, "My favorite basketball coach is Bob Knight."  He then went on to list his favorite players: Quinn Buckner, Randy Whitman, Steve Alford and Isaiah Thomas.

At a checkup with Dr. Landrigan, he was asked to open his mouth.  Hudson responds by saying "Not today, maybe tomorrow."  He then proceed to lock his jaw shut tightly.  The fact that Dr. Landrigan just laughed did not help the fact either.

While at Nancy's she asked if he was going to take a nap and he said, "Nope, not today dude!"

The Adventures of Joey and Hudson

One day while driving home from Miss Nancy's I asked Hudson who was at Nancy's that  particular day.  He listed his usual friends and then said "Joey."  I didn't recognize Joey's name and I asked if he was new.  He said, "Yes, he's just a 'widdle" guy."  Caroline pipped up and said "there wasn't a Joey there!"  This led into a heated debate after asking Miss Nancy and talking to Hudson more I learned that Joey was Hudson's imaginary friend.  There friendship took off from there.  Joey often is found traveling around with Hudson in his pocket, however, when he rides in the car he is put into Hudson' backpack and belted in.  Hudson and Joey have many adventures together from playing with fire trucks to playing monsters and fighting off the fountains(bad guys).  There was a short stint where Joey was sick and had to go to the doctor.  Yes I drove Hudson to the doctor's office and let Joey go in.  Hudson informed me that we didn't have to go in and Joey would go himself.  So we parked and waited for Joey to come out.  Joey was diagnosed with smoke in his belly.  He later had a full recovery.  Uncle Chris recently moved and it just so happens that Joey lives right next door in a "widdle house."  Joey has become an honorary member of the family.  I wonder where they will take us next?

A love for music

When Hudson was a little guy and his "motor" started at about 7 months we marked it up to his being a boy.  As the months went on and he began to learn words those words quickly turned into songs, which turned into music.  Hudson will listen to a song once, maybe twice and he will know the words by heart.  I am not a musical person at all but as he began to sing and would sing for others I learned (was told) that he was even singing the correct melody and on tune.  (I guess that is a food thing in the music world.)  I like to think that his musical talent come from his Papaw and Great Grandpa Sweet Fingers.  Maybe as God was thinking up Hudson's design he happened to pass by Papaw and Great Grandpa Sweet Fingers and thought to himself "I'll send them a little extra gift from Heaven...."  If that was the case or even if it wasn't we'll still soak up the music and sing along all the days we can.
